Lotus Notes
Why, oh why, do we use this garbage software!?
I've never worked in a Lotus Notes company until I took my current job. Everywhere else has used Microsoft Outlook.
I have no questions as to why. It's painfully apparent on a daily basis.
My Lotus Notes replicates every morning. It takes 35-40 minutes. I can barely use my computer during that time.
To change from one email to the next one, takes about 3-4 minutes to refresh.. so if I have 10 emails, it will take upwards of an hour to read them.
Pasting text from another source (Word document, browser window, etc) takes 20-30 seconds, and there's no telling what the format will look like when it actually pastes into the email.
Forwarding an email with an attachment takes 2 minutes, regardless of the size of the attachment. Moving email out of the inbox and into the appropriate folder takes just as long.
How is this at all appropriate? Imagine the cumulative loss of productivity over the span of say, a week. A month.
Why in the hell are companies still using this archaic piece of crap? You can't even search the text of emails for a word or phrase.
To date, the only "plus" I've found is that rules are stored on the server rather than in the client, which hardly outweight the "cons".
